New York Fashion...Welcome The New York Fame

What's up Fashionistas

I'm talking to the males and females out there but let me break it down to start. A fashionista is a designer of haute couture, we hear the word couture a lot especially over the past 5 years or so with big names like that Juicy Couture perfume line. If you Google that word...Juicy will probably be your first result. Now haute couture by definition via Wikipedia.com says this: Haute couture is made to order for a specific customer, and it is usually made from high-quality, expensive fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finished by the most experienced and capable seamstresses, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques.
Now this is something that I do not mind being associated with...I mean who wouldn't when you have nothing but A-list stars and designers coming to show off and show out on the HOTTEST stage in the world where fashion is concerned...New York City!

RELATIONSHIPS: Where is your soulmate?

Greetings Family

For a while now I have had this thought that the concept of having a soulmate is misleading.

With the number of people in your state...matter of fact, your city won't allow you to ever find that ONE person. Think about how many times you may have locked eyes with someone at a bar or out for a jog in the park... How many times did you stop and spark up a conversation? If you didn't, then you missed out on your soulmate... Nmaybe. My thought has always been this, just based off the numbers alone you can't make it. Have I always thought of meeting the one woman that I vibe with on a level that I never have with anyone else?
http://www.audioeditions.com

Heck yeah, but who is to say the one that i'm thinking is the one isn't the one? Hmmm, I never been to Anchorage, Alaska... Maybe she is there. Or maybe not... This is the game we play.

School is Out....

Oh yeah!

School has been out for a few weeks for the kids and summer has officially started about a week ago. With that said...the day times will now be ruled by the kids. They don't have homework or exams to study for to keep them occupied, your grocery bill is going to go up because they and their friends will be going in that refrigerator every time they take a break from the video game or come inside from playing in the yard. Friends will stop by and you WILL have to feed them too lol. I remember as a young boy, my brothers and I would have a real mess for my mom when she got home from work. My friends down the street had this huge fancy sienna sinks stainless steel sinks that could hold like a weeks worth of dishes in a day, and boy did they have time cleaning up. Always wondered why they didn't have a dishwasher though. I can't even picture living without one of those inventions. Laundry would also pile up because we would change up clothes when we got dirty from playing outside...every few hours. One thing I know is that chores were never on the top of our to do list and mom would pray for year round school, but hey not in my lifetime...or maybe. Parents invest in summer camp, it might cut your overall costs for the summer. Thank about it.

Until later people...Peace

Summer Getaway...

How many times do we just want to pack it up and get on the road to nowhere? I mean... Just anywhere really? When the summertime hits, I just want to pack some clothes, some music, and my laptop... Maybe a few other things to *wink*, and just hit the road and see the sights. Growing up, I had a friend who's parents had an RV and it was pretty cool... It was like a house on wheels! Forget a tree house! I'm all over this thing. My friend's dad was an expert on car repair, so motorhome repair was gonna be a piece of cake for him when it was time to get on the road. That is one of the most important things to think about. If you are gonna get the family together for a 1000 mile trip in your house on wheels, you better make sure that ride is in tip top shape. I'm gonna look into this in the near future and if any of my friends out there are down to ride out... Let's do this. Life is short... Play Hard.

Have you ever been on a vacation in an RV? Tell us how your experience was by commenting below or email us at Authors@NGA-Radio.com

Gay Marriage...Is New York really ready?

Greetings Family,

So the day has come...gay marriage is now legal in NEW YORK CITY! Really? So a few things strike me with this NEW law and frankly the whole thought of this union, joining together as one thing. When they say it is now legal...is it in the form of now they can legally be taxed as a union or does it mean legal in the sense that it is now acceptable to society? Check out how long this has been going on.

RIP to a Jackass

If you haven't heard by now, I'll go ahead and break down it to you. MTV is a channel that use to play music videos. (lol). Anyways, in 2000 a show called "Jackass" was aired. Bunch of crazy guys doing crazy stunts. Some more disturbing than the rest, but overall, hilarious. Started as as a series, then turned into a movie. As if that wasn't enough, it was followed by a second movie, and then with a third in 3D.

POLITICS- Obama pulling out troops?

Greetings Family

I want to start off with a question...Did Barack Obama plan the attack to successfully take out Osama BinLaden? Is he really dead? And why did it take for his supposed death for troops to start being pulled out? I am not a supporter of WAR by no means...I am all about taking care of what is important at home.

Everybody Likes Money...

Everyone likes money... Its just that no one wants to work for it... Lazy generation, I guess... (lol) Now what if there was money floating out there with your name on it. "What?! How do I get my money?!?" slow down there partner... I'll get to that in due time... Its estimated that 1 out of  8 people in the U.S. have some missing money. Where is the money coming from? Anywhere, really. You could have had a relative pass away, and leave you funds.

What is NIKE thinking?

Hey Sneakerheads

It all started with my first pair of Nike Air sneakers...I thought I was definitely a force to be reckoned with. Every "cool" kid in the neighborhood had a pair and don't get caught without em on, you were gonna get teased. NIKE has evolved into the name in sports gear across the world. Originally founded in 1964...they have been around for a while. Now usually when a company like this has the type of stronghold on the competition like NIKE does...they can get away with almost ANYTHING.

Good Stuff...NGA-Radio found it!

Greetings Family

So me and my boy Pawel are websurfing like we always do looking for good steals and deals for our people. We are always looking for things that are... economic... cost effective. If you ever thought everything that is great comes out of America, you are missing out greatly on this site www.canadapost.ca/shopper/music-cd-dvds/pc/2. I've found books, clothes, MOVIES, music, ELECTRONICS....you name it.

One thing that also struck was that Canada Post is one of the largest shipping companies in the world! Moving more than 66 million pounds of inventory per year! Wow... something is going on in Canada and if it proves cost effective for you, then I would check it out. Internet shopping and comparison shopping has now been the thing of the present and the future. Check it out, you can save on gas, sit in the comfort of your LAZ-Y Boy or plush leather Italian couch and get on that labtop and shop. By the way...save money doing it. Be on the lookout for more steals and deals from Canada Post and browse that music collection.

Doctor, doctor, is there something wrong with my melanin?

There's a Brown girl in the ring, trala, la la, laaa. I never thought those lyrics from a childhood game I used to play would ever mean anything significant, but as I see another story about the bleaching epidemic in Jamaica all the way to West Africa, I have to wonder. Have we somehow naturalized the acceptance that “Brown” is being so much better, that having “Black” skin is now treated like an abnormal function?  Doctor, doctor, is there something wrong with my melanin?

It appears so, according to the AP and Black Health Matters, Jamaicans and West Africans are Bleaching their skin at alarming rates. So much so, that billboards and AD campaigns have been made to encourage people to stop Bleaching, like they do now to encourage people to stop smoking. Wait, did you say Bleaching their skin?  As in Clorox Bleach?

POLITICS: Is the USA in poverty?

Greetings Americans...and the rest of you

I read an article yesterday about the debt ceiling in the US being raised due to President Obama fearing for another financial crisis. Why another one? I just thought we had a bailout and jobs were being created and we were on the way to coming out of the so called RECESSION. Well when you are already trillions of dollars in debt...it's kind of hard to get out when your initiative is to raise the debt ceiling.

RELATIONSHIPS : Mama's baby. Daddy's maybe.

Greetings NGA Family
When did it start becoming "ok" to have a child and decide they don't fit in your budget; therefore you can't take care of it? What do I mean by that? Well... The number of single parent households has been on the rise lately in case you haven't noticed. Back in 1973 only 31% of women with children were not married, by 1992 it jumped to 55%... A staggering number if you ask me. That means "1" in every "2" women that I meet will already have a child. What does that mean for the young man trying to start a family or cultivate a relationship?

Arizona Cousin; Georgia pushes HB 87

Less than a month left before this bill is into full effect. July 1. What a way to prepare for the celebration of this awesome countries birthday then to execute plan "get them foreigners out of Georgia". Wow. First Arizona passed a hard Immigration Law into effect, that turns busy towns and cities into ghost towns. As well as racial profiling going through the roof. Now you might say: "Well I'm legal, no worries for me!" Wrong. You just being associated with illegals immigrants can put you on the wrong side of the law...  Just a small snip of this bill that you may relate to. According to this bill SECTION 7, ARTICLE 5, Lines 310 - 326 it says:

310 (b) A person who, while committing another criminal offense, knowingly and intentionally
311 transports or moves an illegal alien in a motor vehicle for the purpose of furthering the
312 illegal presence of the alien in the United States shall be guilty of the offense of
313 transporting or moving an illegal alien.11 HB 87/AP

RELATIONSHIPS - Male / Female Shift

Greetings Family,

Today I want to talk about shift in the dynamics of the relationships with men and women. Back in the day men would woo and court a woman that he was interested in. He wouldn't have the first thought of laying down with her but more of the I want to impress her...wine and dine her...get her to love me first. All the other stuff would be the reward...not the thing that is expected because it was your body that is wanted and not your mind ladies. Here is the thing...unconsciously nowadays we have driven women to a point where they have felt that they have to take care of themselves due to an increased number of single parents across all races, high rate of divorce....where most women have to start all over, and the lack of self love that the woman has to the point where she starts taking care of the man. Women bringing home the BACON! Since when has that ever been cool? As a MAN, should that not make a man of any color look at himself in the mirror and feel like something is wrong here?

NFL - Plaxico Released

Sports Fans

This might just have been the longest 21 months of anyone's life. Plaxico Burress, star wide receiver that caught the game winning touchdown in Super Bowl XLII for the New York Giants is set to be released from prison tomorrow June 6th. This release is 3 months early for Burress who went to jail for having a gun in a New York nightclub in November of 2008, it unfortunately slid down his leg and went off with a bullet hitting him in the leg and narrowly missing a security guard. For this he spent nearly 2 years in jail. I still wonder why he didn't just have bodyguards...he gets paid well enough to hire the best, i'm sure of that.

A Man Possessed

Sports FANS!!!

Last night was game two of the 2011 NBA finals, both teams came out slugging making runs of 10 and 15 respectively in the first half. Mike Bibby has become relevant again due to his three point shooting and making LeBron James and Dwayne Wade look like geniuses for finding him in open space to knock it down. Dallas through the first seven quarters of these finals have yet to show that they are gonna play effective defense and they have payed dearly, losing game one and losing a 9 point lead at the half of game two. The 3rd quarter displayed a still struggling Dallas offense with turnovers by of all people Jason Kidd and overall bad team execution. Dirk Nowitzki's left middle finger is looking like it is more of a nuisance than he anticipated after hurting it on a fluke foul call when he actually hit the ball. Although they started slow Dallas pulled it together to close out the third only trailing by 4 when it could have easily been 14.

Atlanta Carnival 2011 Recap....

Greetings Family

The weekend is back again and I feel like this has actually been a full work week, but anyway TGIF! Last weekend was so awesome with the Jazz Festival, Lasershow at Stone Mountain, and the Atlanta Carnival...it was packed and very successful. These events during the Memorial Day weekend are something that we all look forward to and I would also LOVE to add that I did not hear about any violence at any of these events...another PLUS.
NGA-Radio's Mark Joseph and Expert Photographer/Entrepreneur Donja Gordon were down at the festivities and took loads of pics for you all so you may feel like you were there.

Converse: For Real G's and Vegans

I’ve been wearing Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars all my life. I wish I could say it was because I was a kewl fashionista from birth. Truth be told, it was because they were cheap and durable and that’s all my mom cared about. I wasn’t about to complain. All the kids I hung out with and didn’t hang out with were wearing them. From the hardcore gangbangers to the indie rockers to the aspiring pop tarts. I never identified with any one social group, gang, or clique. Instead I wandered in and around these groups, like a mystical cat. Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars were the cheapest way to achieve street cred.

SPORTS- Farewell to Superman aka SHAQ

Dedicated Basketball Fans

Something that we all thought would have happened already but without a doubt was going to happen soon would be the Big Aristotle...Shaq Diesel would leave the game of basketball to go on to bigger and better things. Now I have been watching Shaq since he was at LSU, I read his biography...what was available when I was in junior highschool and was always looking for change so I could go to the store with my friends to get a pack of basketball cards with the hope for that Shaquille O'Neal ROOKIE card. Arguably one the greatest players and personalities to ever be part of NBA basketball history, Shaq has brought back the break backboards excitement with his dunks...infamous for receiving the Hack a Shaq treatment because of his poor free throw shooting but thunderous presence down in the paint. If he got the ball down low...forget it because he is getting an easy 2 and maybe 3 with the and 1.

Summer Daze...

Another year, another season; Another season, another summer... Another summer... Kids out of school. Freedom for the little people from school, and the 9-5 they attend, which is really more of a 6-3. I personally never liked school for the simple fact of homework. After spending 8 hours at school, which is a full work day, they expect you to take your work home and operate after hours to do homework. Now, you wouldn't work off the clock, would you? lol. What are they doing with the kids in school while they have them for the extended periods of time? -smh- Anyways, as if the torment of school and the overtime you have to put into it, you finally get few months or weeks of freedom. Six Flags, White Water, Lake Lanier Water Park, and other various summer attractions are opening for your dispense, as well as your parents cash or your allowance. Hanging out with your friends everywhere, till the cows come home...

Not this summer, and not in Atlanta. If you are 16 or younger, your nights have just been cut. The city of Atlanta has issued a summer curfew which has police presence beefed up in local hot spots, like parks, pools, malls, and on MARTA.
