Tech & Health - What the blood clot?!?

Imagine you and your buddy got some time to kill... Let's say y'all decide to have a Halo marathon. So you stock up on supplies... Drinks, chips, dip, pizza, ramen noodles any other junk snacks to keep you in the game as much as possible. Some even go as far as having an empty bottle to relieve themselves in the heat of battle. (lol)

Sound familiar? Maybe minus the empty bottle... Doesn't matter. The youth is so addicted to technology that the reality is becoming; till death due us part. From texting and driving to killing each other over Facebook status... Now it's gone too far.

Gentleman Jack presents Art, Beats+Lyrics

What up people!

Friday night was LIVE down at the Compound on Brady Ave! Gentleman Jack hosted the Art, Beats+Lyrics event and I must say...it was on point. The artists were in abundance with select pieces that anyone that can appreciate the true essence of art would have hanging in their living room. The music had everyone grooving and having a good time along with the open bar for all Gentleman Jack guests and media. There was all types of shots and mixed drinks for the tasting...I like Gentleman Jack's liquor, although I have not had the opportunity to realize this in the past. NGA-Radio had the opportunity to briefly speak with Rhythmic Images Photography's Carolyn Grady and she gave us a glimpse into her world of art...check out the piece below:
Mos Def...picture by Carolyn Grady

There were a lot of freelance photographers there showing off their camera skills and video mastering. Daniel Flores from Da Creative Genius also had some very interesting pieces that caught our eye and you can check them out at his website by clicking on his name. DJ Dibiase was in the building doing his thing on the mix and definitely had the crowd moving after they got a few drinks in them. We will be looking forward to the NEX event that Gentleman Jack has as we will definitely get our media passes early.

Check out the slideshow below of what we were able to catch for you all and also check out some pics taken by GJ photographers at: Gentleman Jack Pics

Do the Spiderman Perch

Lions and Tigers and Bears... Oh my. They have come up with another fad. You just want to Roll your eyes right out of your head right? I mean really? First there was Phone Booth Packing (1959), then came Planking (1997 - 2011), some made fun and posted pictures on FB of people Reading in weird places. Now there's... drum roll please.... OWLING. Yes, you have my permission to say What the hell... is that? Think Spiderman perched on a statue high above the city.
© Marvel Comics
Yes, perch on something like a bird, specifically an owl and you are OWLING. I guess you have to come up with ways to have fun, but when one fad keeps coming after the next, it gets old really fast. Hey, maybe if OWLING had come out first a lot more people would have done it and the arguments relating it to something offensive like slavery would have been moot.

© BestOwling.com

I can’t think of anything offensive you can relate to OWLING. Can you? There are a lot more jokes to be had, that’s for sure. As they say, to each his or her own. Owl and HOOOT away. Me? I’ve been Planking in my bed since 19 how long and I owl when I tie my shoe laces. On second thought, there is one thing that I don’t think will get old though and that’s Flash Mobs.

Artists and Fans

The best live music venue was back in full effect again...Redlight Nights Press Play! Blessed to be in the presence of great artists like DC who opened the show followed by Carolina’s own T-Cap. Sizzle had help from Redlight veteran Jericko to bring a little inspirational Hip Hop to the scene. Kebba as always brought that great energy rocking to a few new joints. Shout out to momma Resistance as she made sure I knew that these youngsters would be around for a long time. The show really blasted off into another stratosphere when Way took the stage with that ol boom bap!! Lil E and ATP as always had the ladies going wild.
Backbone
Hellified rocked the crowd next after I got his sister to introduce them on stage, much love and thanks to her. Finally we had Dungeon Family’s own Backbone who killed his set with classics like 5,2,4,Trey and  a few other new joints. He brought out acts like Aleon Craft and Slim Calhoun to bless the stage.

If you missed it....... then you missed it. Check out footage on Tino Panama's Channel and remember that there is NO other live venue like The Redlight Café on Sundays. Its all from the energy. Tino Panama you bastards!!

MUSIC- Amy Winehouse...should have went to rehab?

A moment of silence

Today the world got wind of some news that shocked the music and entertainment industry. At 11am EST Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London home. Details of the cause of death are still unknown at this time, but her passing has been confirmed. At only 27 years of age, Winehouse has accomplished a lot...while doing it with her share of problems that were made public to the world. I'm sure before any type of autopsy or confirmed reason of death is made public, everyone will speculate that the cause of death was drugs...was it?

LIBERATION by Raven

Most of the time when I come into my room the first thing I turn on after the light is my stereo/radio/or laptop music library....I'm not really into television unless there is something specific I want to see (cartoons, basketball, a good sitcom, etc...). Half the time I have to remember to turn my tv on. lol
Music is my salvation, it makes me smile and tells me stories I need to hear. This song by Outkast with CeeLo, Big Rube and Erykah Badu is on my top FIVE of favorite rap songs of all time (YES, OF ALL TIME).
Andre Benjamin wrote this, he must have been right inside my head when he penned these lyrics. Just to go through it a little, it starts...."There's a fine line between love and hate, you see, came way too late but baby I'm on it..."

RELATIONSHIPS- It's not called humpday for no reason...is it?

Greetings People

How do we keep the spice in the relationship? Well there is a day that we are all familiar with and it's called Wednesday...better known as hump day. Hump day came about only due to it being the middle of the week and getting ready for everything being downhill from here...2 days left before the weekend. Thinking about relaxing becomes more of a reality, and we are a little calmer than we were at the start of the week. Why is that? Well, normally when you are at ease...you can function in all facets of life clearer. You tend not to play tug of war with yourself and partner than you would on a Monday.

http://www.chubbybeavers.com/oldies/
The definition of hump day has changed a lot in which now it is mostly referred to as the term of "gettin' some". Everybody getting some on Wednesdays...yeah right, although many do need it. Think about how your boss treats you on Monday and Tuesday as opposed to Thursday and Friday...something happened Wednesday night when they got home. Heck, it could have happened during their lunch break at 2pm...it's necessary. Check this out:

Sex and Stress Response
Along those lines, another study looked at women’s heart rate and cortisol levels as a measure of stress response, and found that women exhibited less of a stress response after ‘positive physical contact’ with a partner. Emotional support alone didn’t have the same effect.

(Source-http://stress.about.com/od/generaltechniques/a/sexandstress.htm)
If you want to keep the spice in your life and keep the stress out of it...make sure you have a happy Humpday. Hope I get that raise I been looking for. I'm gonna be really nice to my boss today *wink*

Till next time...Peace and Love

V-103 Car and Bike Show Wrapup

What's up People!!!

The Car and Bike Show was another smash hit! I wasn't there last year with the 36,000 people that came but I sure made it a priority not to miss this year. The cars were amazing, the bikes were artistic, the wheels were exquisite....shout out to Butler Tire, and the performances were just what the crowd was looking for. As we walked into the Georgia World Congress Center the smell of a brand new car was all I could think about and V-103 did not disappoint. There were cars from the 1950's in attendance along with 3 old school classics by Atlanta's own Wanda Smith. Frank Ski had his black Ferrari nice and shined up...ready to show off. Yo Gotti had a spider out there that I would love to take for a cruise in the A...2 hours...that's all I need then he can have it back lol. Gary Frost-General Manager of Butler Tire was working the crowd and showing off some of the pieces that they had a hand in making look like a masterpiece for the day. The craftsmanship it takes to make a car look that good can only be BUTLER tire. The rims these cars had on them were BIG and shiny...some even had diamonds in em'.

Patronizing....

This title word and it's definition really get under my skin. I don't like to patronize people and I DEFINITELY don't like when someone tries to patronize me. It's an EXTREME insult to my intelligence. Ask anyone who really knows me and they will tell you that I would rather you punch me than to treat me like I'm an idiot. LBS.....

UPDATE- V-103 Car and Bike Show Tickets

POLITICS- Is America on the brink of collapse?

Fellow Americans

In a heated negotiation yesterday between lawmakers and the White House, President Obama made headline news by storming out of the 2 hour meeting after letting House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R.-VA) have an earful. According to Reuters, President Obama stated:
"I have reached the point where I say...enough. Would Ronald Reagan be sitting here? I've reached my limit. This may bring my presidency down, but I will not yield on this."

www.politico.com- FACEOFF

This sounds like frustration. He is telling the truth in which other presidents did not receive such opposition as he is getting at this time. This sounds like a man who has had enough of the crap and wants to make something happen. Is that something...the right thing?

TECH- Google+ is here....

Hey fellow tech masters

As a relatively nerdy young female who bypassed the college route and went straight into the working world, I remember being extremely disappointed a few years back when Facebook expanded past its first Harvard stage and started allowing college students from all over the world to socialize on its crisp and simple format. I was stuck with MySpace, and it had started to become a cluttered mess of awful garage bands, lewd invites from complete strangers, and stupid wall postings with movable images. My friends in college were on Facebook and I was left out of the loop. Then, Facebook went peasant, and suddenly, everyone could have one. I joined in and thoroughly enjoyed the clean setup; the ease of contacting my friends and the lack of thirty-minute loading times for profiles. I was in social networking heaven! Later, while working at a boring law firm, I became addicted to the games and would play pretty much all day instead of earning my keep.

YOGA- The Trifecta of health

Right before and during the summer most people hit the gym or hit the trails exercising to get in shape or maintain the shape they are in. They do sit ups, push-ups, bench presses, walk, run, cycle almost every thing to achieve that fine physique. There are those that love to exercise but honestly, most don’t because it is often looked at or treated like a means to an end. Some compare exercise to work....bbbzzzz, I don’t want to leave work to go to do MORE WORK. Some say if you create the habit then it will become second nature. It does get easier but consistency is key. The thing is when you fall out of the habit, I doubt most crave to do something that they had to trick their minds to do in the first place. Exercise shouldn't be like that! It should be enjoyable, invigorating, motivating and balance your mind, body and soul. At least that’s the way I see it. I want to engage all of me and not just some of me unwillingly. So, what to do? Hmmm...

Where do we go from here?

Sports Enthusiasts

With summer here, there's not much sports to watch on T.V. Unless you like baseball or the WNBA, its slim pickings. O.K., soccer is starting to get a little U.S. love but that's it. Not trying to speak bad about either sport, but the truth is they don't hold the attention of people like the NFL or NBA do. Again not trying to trash either sport but, at baseball games people fall asleep in the stands while watching the game and for reasons I'm not exactly sure of, the WNBA doesn't have the draw of crowds or popularity that the NBA has (although I do watch)...I would rather go build some new Olympia steel buildings in London and get ready for the 2012 Summer Olympics.

TECH: A Phone Out Of This World

Unless you have been living under a rock, you should know by now... The iPhone is hands down the best phone on this Earth. Followed by it's brothers iPad and iPod. Now that Apple has taken over the world, what's next?
The Final Frontier: Space. The shuttle Atlantis blasted off yesterday around noon with no problems but some delays. On board, the crew of four were equipped with an iPhone 4 and Google Nexus S smartphones. Although both phones are competitors, they both will serve a purpose of it's own to help the crew members with tasks.Smartphones have become the popular choice of phones and electronic gadgets; increasing in it's mobile batteries, productivity, and practically.

TECH: Apple Jailbroken Again!

Cydia by
Jay Freeman
(saurik)
If you have an iPhone and never jailbroken it, then you really just have a fancy cellular phone. Now I know when it comes to the entire jailbreaking process, most people would say its too hard, and too confusing... As well as illegal. Nonsense! The Library of Congress approved a DMCA exemption in 2010 for jailbreaking cell phones, including the iPhone. Comex, a well known developer/hacker had just released the easiest way to jailbreak any of your apple products. With the success of his previous versions of the OTW (Over The Web) jailbreaking method, which requires no computer at all. The newest version is 3.0 which will install Cydia onto your device and allow you to take back control from your device.

Get Past a Past Time

Sports Fans

As I watch the beginning of this 2011 MLB season I still have the same question I have had for the past three and a half years - where have all the superstars gone? You still have guys like soon to be Mr.3000 Derek Jeter and eventual homerun king Alex Rodriguez, but as we all know their on their last legs. There's "The machine" Albert Pujols who can be baseballs savior, but his injuries sustained in the past two years has him declining and probably looking at a future as a DH later on in his career. We still have big game pitchers like C.C. Sabathia, Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay but none posses the personality of a mega star. It may come off as I'm looking past a few of the games great players but honestly who'd I forget?

RELATIONSHIPS- Does Facebook ruin relationships?

Greetings Lovers

So I've come across the new number one reason for divorce or relationships/friendships being ended in America today and the culprit....FACEBOOK. Social media networks are supposed to be the new wave in communication and staying in touch with your friends and family along with a little entertainment and advertising to boot. Unfortunately it does not allow for individuals in relationships to be individual. You ever find yourself having a conversation with the opposite sex at work or out somewhere that you know your spouse or partner might not find so amusing or appropriate if they just happened to be around? But, it's totally harmless. Of course you have...same reason why the majority would not dare trade phones with their partner for a day. Some things I guess just need to be left unknown. Does that mean the trust can't be there? Absolutely not! Some may say how in the world can that work if you having these convos and commenting on pictures on facebook...and you are listed as single? Where's the...respect...I guess?

RELIGION: Am I Wrong for Thinking for Myself?

Greetings Family

Dating back to the early years in America, after the Spaniards came to New Mexico trying to change the religion of the Pueblo Indians have people had to struggle with not being able to think for themselves where religion is concerned. The Pueblos had more of a belief in people doing good, living right, helping each other, no oppression or judgment. As the Spaniards tried to incorporate Christianity into the Pueblo religion, this kinda rubbed the Pueblos the wrong way in that who can come from elsewhere and tell them that how they lived was wrong. This led to jailings and abuse to anyone that went against the Spaniards and Christian religion until the Pueblos rose up and were forced to fight for their right to worship and praise how they may without having to believe what was thrown upon them and expected to follow.

Plank This...

What in the world? Did I just see a picture of someone face down in the grass, on the road, on a pole and on a roof top? I’m sure you have started to see these kinds of pictures popping up all over Facebook, with your friends or friends of friends doing it too. If you’ve seen these pictures you either laugh, scrunch up your brows or keep it moving. When I first saw it I was perplexed while laughing at the same time. What are they doing? Well, they're “Planking.” They’re what? Exercising? Kind of, but no.

www.popcrush.com- Chris Brown...wow

It’s called Planking or the Lying Down Game, where people find unique structures to lie with their stiff bodies, face down and their arms usually at their side.

Movie Review: Transformers 3-Dark of the Moon

Once again Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg did not disappoint the fans. TF3 in my opinion had the MOST action out of all 3 movies and Optimus Prime was once again "The MAN/Robot in this one.

According to www.chacha.com, 'Transformers 3' has grossed $37.3M at Wednesday Box Office. The 24-hour haul -- which included $8 million in midnight revenue -- gives Paramount's $200 million-plus follow-up the best single-day opening performance of the year.
